So I just thought I would pop a brief note and share with those who are not involved with SSMT tonight - Sunday, 7/17...
We have a group coming tonight of Salvation Army members (I am sure because we are doing Guys and Dolls)...they are currently outside playing their band music as patrons are coming in to pick up tickets. Not only that, they have placed a red donation bucket (like the ones at Christmas) right in front of the center doors. Now all we are missing is about 2 feet of snow and Santa...
And...Lanny just told me that he found out an hour ago that not only are they allowed to do the things mentioned above, but at curtain call, they will also be acknowledged by Jack Rowles and Rick Wesley and everybody has to clap for them...
I mean...Come on now...
I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this...
Why should this group in particular get all of this acknowledgement and praise? I mean, I understand that they do wonderful work for the community and whatnot all year long, but I feel as if they are sitting outside, almost forcing their beliefs on passersby...They are all carrying their Bibles and singing God songs...What if not everyone is religious. I would be quite offended and I am almost offended for them.
More later.
- Ummm...what?
